25 Days of Yoga In December

As I was reflecting on what I ‘needed’ this year, I realized that more than ever I am hungry for a daily practice. It’s been a busy year and lately I have felt overwhelmed with overlapping projects, work, learning songs, social stuff, and unfortunately increased body pain. As I mentioned in my last newsletter, I have been struggling in my body and some of it is related to a lack of estrogen in my system, and what goes along with perimenopause/shutdown of my reproductive system as a result of having estrogen positive cancer twice in the last 7 years. I’m grateful to be cancer free at this point, but lordy some of the aftermath is harrowing!

I’ve been slowly realizing that one of the keys to well-being and less pain is when I find my way to the yoga mat and do some actual stretching, breathing, and grounding!

Normally this is a packed time of the year and I put myself on hold and wait till after New Years to reset, but this year I need it NOW! So I decided to start ‘25 Days of Yoga in December.’

This group is for everyone - no previous yoga experience required! Anyone who feels a need to find grounding or get moving right now is welcome. I want to connect with the source and have a space for healing and also send healing to the world through being kind to ourselves.

I will mostly randomly select videos on YouTube and many will be Yoga with Adriene videos because there are so many to choose from, they are typically 18-30 min long (so I can do this before work!) and I love her ‘take good care’ vibe. The last couple years I’ve done her January series and it’s been immensely helpful to me. She has a December offering too that I will be checking in with too.

I am open to online suggestions and also attending classes in person when time allows, if anyone wants to join me (in Nashville).

Really, the only thing to do is a few minutes of some kind of yoga or meditation 25 out of 31 days this month. It’s a gift to yourself! Energy follows intention and I look forward to deepening my intuitive connection with you as we face this crazy world. I am already feeling more peaceful and grounded. Namaste!

Here is a calming breath work video that was very helpful to me the other day.
