When she’s not performing as a solo artist, or with the experimental duo Slow Force, Nashville-based Megan Palmer is offering a different kind of healing as a palliative care nurse. She writes and sings about all she’s experienced this past year on the upcoming EP Take Good Care, often with help from her healthcare peers. Palmer and frontline worker Anna Marie Henderson collaborate here on “Stop for a Minute,” a beautiful anecdote about the intimate connection between caregiver and patient. Recorded with Nashville all-stars like Raconteurs bassist Jack Lawrence, drummer Megan Coleman, and Jon James Tourville on dreamy pedal-steel, it manages to be both sad and upbeat all at once. “What’s on the other side,” Palmer asks in song, “we never know.”

Introduction to ‘Take Good Care’ filmed and edited by Anana Kaye & Irakli Gabriel

She expertly communicates in her songs her sense of kindness and compassion even when there's good reason to behave otherwise. It’s not just something she says, it's also who she is as an artist and person - Aaron Lee Tasjan

ABOUT

004_lschneider_MeganPublicity01252021.jpg

Megan Palmer is an artist’s artist, who has carved a singular path in the East Nashville music scene. Originally from Ohio, Palmer moved to East Nashville 10 years ago and quickly became one of the most sought after multi-instrumentalist and singers in the scene, backing up artists such as Tim Easton, Amy Speace, Anne McCue, Darrin Bradbury and many others. But lately, it’s her own work as a songwriter that has been catching notice and gaining critical raves. A naturally gifted musician, her voice sings an unembellished truth and her songs are portraits of longing and hope. Alongside her music career, Palmer has been a Registered Nurse for over 20 years and currently works at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. It is that unique dichotomy, artist and healer, that defines Megan Palmer’s healing music.
