Update…

January 27th, 2010 by megan

It’s been a great January being in New York. The weekly residency at  68 Jay St has been a lovely way to start off the year. Plus I’ve been blessed with the talents of Jason Crosby on fiddle, vocals, keys and guitar. I’ve gotten to sit in with his band as well a couple times over the past few weeks too… I’m sad this is the last night of the residency, but I am definitely planning to play at Jay St again whenever I can. And I’ve been busy booking several more shows in the NYC area.

I’ve had Haiti on my mind and prayers since the January 12th earthquake. I have been inspired by Democracy Now’s Amy Goodman. I saw her speak last week at Cooper Square in Manhattan. She had just returned from Haiti that morning; her description of conditions there was harrowing.  In a country that already has so little, and such poor infrastructure, it is daunting about how to even begin to help to rebuild.  I have even imagined what it would be like in NYC if such an earthquake hit. And that is simply nothing compared to what the Haitians are going through. So my thoughts and prayers are to them…

So much can change so quickly. Am thankful for the fortunate and enriching life I have.
